VA. Beach and the Air Show

Virginia Beach.........Ahhhhhhhh! The sounds of the ocean, the smell of the sea, the taste of the salt on your lips, the sun shining on your face, and the gritty soft sand between your toes. Children laughing, playing, and feeling free. Building castles and imaginations.......read only from fairy tails. Collecting sea shells, sea glass, and unusual little critters in colorful buckets. These are the days.....Memories are made of and memories that are cherished for now and forever. These are the memories that I, as a mother helped create in my childrens precious little minds.

Driving endlessly to the shore with anticipation to see the sea and the air planes that our Military has created to defend our freedom. Having never been to an air show before the kids, Landon and Lexi, and I were so excited. Tommy, was excited too! He was like a kid in the candy factory, all smiles and grins from ear to ear. He holds fond memories of his father when he sees these planes. There again, precious memories created by a loved one, dearest to the heart.

Upon our arrival to the hotel, the "Blue Angels", were taking practice runs overhead. it was amazing the speed and the precise maneuvers these men must learn to navigate these high tech planes. "WOW!", the children gasped as they were in awe for what they were about to partake. Levels of excitement grew in their eyes as we encroached upon the military base, later that evening and returned for more excitement the very next day! The entire weekend was crisp and chilly. Yet the show kept our minds off the weather.

Sunday soon came and the sorrows of returning home soon ended as we ( Tommy, Landon, Lexi, and I) and our friends Eric, Tabitha, and Dawson Rowland woke to a sun filled sky, Starbucks coffee, and a bike ride down the boardwalk shoreline. The boardwalk there is amazing! It stretches the length of the entire beach. During the fall, the end of "peak season", The Neptune Festival takes over and all of the festivities begin!
There is a long list of activities that sustain the rest of the off season to entice guests to the area. I truly recommend to those of you who have not traveled to VA beach in the past recent years...take another look at what Virginia beach has to offer! I guarantee you'll soon see what you have been missing out on.
